Meet Casey Burrill
Abstract Landscape Artist

Meet Casey: artist, teacher and mum to three kiddos. She was born into a family of musicians that deeply valued creative expression. While music was her first love, she eventually found painting, and her art expresses a sense of movement, energy and freedom that is driven by an organic + natural style of intuitive mark-making.

Casey has been working on new abstract landscapes for an exhibition, and wanted me to capture some of her process. Much of her inspiration comes from the land she lives on (Wadawurrung country) so for our photoshoot, I simply asked her to move through her process while I followed her around documenting it.

This included getting photos of her walking through the bush, feeling plants, stopping when intuition hit to sketch, and being immersed in nature- which fuels her creativity. She even got a custom jacket created for the shoot in collaboration with Overall1516 using her art!
